Description

Purpose

The University of Pittsburgh Physicians (UPP) Heart and Vascular Institute, Cardiac Surgery Section seeks a cardiac surgeon at the Associate level (minimum 5 years clinical experience) to be based out of UPMC Altoona in Altoona, PA. UPMC, a major teaching organization affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh, is a national and international leader in patient care, basic science, clinical trials and translational research.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a strong adult cardiac surgery background with an interest in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, endovascular cardiac surgery, valve repair, arrhythmia surgery and robotic cardiac surgery. The candidate must possess strong leadership skills to work collaboratively with the cardiac faculty at UPMC Altoona as well as all HVI clinical sites.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

- American Board of Surgery certification
- American Board of Thoracic Surgery certification
- Minimum 5 year Attending position
- Demonstrated excellent clinic outcomes
- Pennsylvania medical license
- Preference will be given candidates with membership in STS and or AATS
