This is a part-time position where the candidate will have rotating shifts of either 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. The candidate will also have to work rotating weekends and holidays.

 

Purpose:
The Housekeeper/custodian performs the day to day activities of the Housekeeping Department in the facility, residential apartments, and other related on�site buildings, as instructed by the Director, Supervisor or Coordinator to assure that all is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to facility/departmental dress codes. Follows all established infection control standards.
  • Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
  • Attend all mandatory in-service programs.
  • Clean and maintain all carpeting in the center, residential apartment traffic areas and assigned buildings on site. (This includes operation of a carpet extractor and accessories, following established procedures.)
  • Clean and report all defective equipment to Assistant or Director of Housekeeping.
  • Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
  • Count and chart linen, also deliver clean linen to areas throughout the facility.
  • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Help to orient new staff members.
  • Maintain patient and resident confidentiality.
  • Operation of floor buffing/cleaning machines.
  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established housekeeping procedures.
  • Pick up all trash, empty and clean trash containers throughout the center.
  • Pick up residents' soiled linen from outside areas and deliver to central laundry.
  • Unpack and store stock supplies (paper products, chemicals, etc.).
  • Wet mop and scrub tile floors, hallways, and stairwells. Strip, wax, and re-apply according to standards for all tiled flooring.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • General knowledge of housekeeping/laundry preferred
  • May in the course of duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Older Adult Protective Services Act
