Description


The Supervisor, Perioperative Materials at Hamor Medical Center is responsible for the procurement and distribution of all perioperative supplies, equipment and materials. Supervise the perioperative materials staff, at multiple facilities, to include par stocking, consignment replenishment, equipment and surgical instrument purchases, equipment setup/utilization and cleaning with proper documentation.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes and organizes key information necessary for management team to project annual budget for the all surgical line specialties, central processing, anesthesia and PACU. Prepare expenditures summary, budget variance reports which examine budgeted versus actual expenditures as required. Assist and supports cost containment initiatives for all perioperative materials.
  • Develops strategic product alternatives when standard products are on manufacturer backorder or recalled and provides timely communication to clinical staff with regular updates on progress. Manage inventory levels of consigned product and negotiate with vendor representative to ensure product availability for surgical case load while minimizing UPMC owned products for these commodities.
  • Interacts with surgical team leaders and administration to develop par levels of products needed. Implement and maintain accurate position descriptions and performance standards for all subordinates; review job performance of each subordinate on an annual or as required basis and make recommendations to the Manager concerning potential merit increments.
  • Oversee the materials management function for the operating room including purchasing and stocking disposable supplies, surgical instruments and capital equipment. Annual spend exceeding $25M and multiple facilities.
  • Responds quickly to physician and staff requests, including any concerns or product issues. Identifies opportunities for service improvements, cost reductions and product standardization and conducts research in support of these initiatives.
  • Select, evaluate, develop, motivate, and counsel subordinates. Ensure all personnel are aware of hospital policies and procedures; enact disciplinary procedures when appropriate.
  • Serve as central point of contact for all perioperative materials and instruments all OR staff and manage related issues, including disposable supplies, purchasing/rental issues, equipment repairs, and financial issues to ensure proper levels of service satisfaction. Directly responsible for proactive ordering so as to reduce expedited freight and courier shipments Collaborate with OR leadership on Value Analysis support for products, technologies and capital equipment for the operating room including assessment and evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma and a minimum of five years of supply chain management experience or minimum of three years healthcare O.R. supply chain/purchasing along with supervisor experience. 
  • Bachelors degree is preferred but not required. 
  • Previous inventory control experience. Previous customer interfacing experience.

Salary Range: $18.69 to $32.36
