Description

Are you a Nutritionist looking for a new opportunity?  This person will assist in developing and providing quality services for the WIC Program. This will be done in a manner consistent with efficiency, cost effectiveness and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and determine participant's nutritional risk for WIC and prescribe the appropriate food package.
  • Assess participant need for use of a WIC breast pump. Issue and instruct participants in the use and cleaning of breast pumps.
  • Assist families in developing healthy eating goals and provide on-going education to support the goals.
  • Assist in the planning and development of goals, objectives and activities for the WIC program.
  • Demonstrate support of Agency mission and philosophy in delivery of services.
  • Develop and implement the nutrition education component to include continuing updates as necessary to meet federal regulations.
  • Develop the nutrition care plan for high risk participants.
  • Endeavor to achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction in the delivery of services to internal/external customers.
  • Maintain and protect participant and Agency confidentiality.
  • Maintain participant records in accordance with Agency and Department of Health policies and procedures. Complete on-line documentation of all nutrition education contacts, topics and comments.
  • Participate in orientation and performance improvement activities.
  • Perform anthropometric measurement for WIC participants.
  • Perform data entry using the Department of Health QuickWIC Data System.
  • Perform hemoglobin testing for WIC participants.
  • Prepare and submit required reports.
  • Print and issue food instruments in accordance with all policies and state and federal regulations.
  • Promote personal and co-worker safety during work duties.
  • Provide breastfeeding education and support to WIC families.
  • Provide information and referral to participants for other health & human services programs as indicated by participant need.
  • Provide initial certification and re-certification of participants.
  • Provide inservice and training for WIC staff.
  • Provide nutrition education and counseling to WIC participants.
  • Provide outreach and educational programs to community agencies and interested groups to increase WIC enrollment.
  • Provide supervision at designated satellite clinic sites.
  • Represent and participate in Agency professional and community activities as requested.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in related field required. Minimum of two years related work experience preferred. Competency in computer skills in a Windows based environment. Demonstrate ability to perform computer skills in specialized computer application(s) as needed. Access to transportation in the Agency service area with valid Pennsylvania drivers license and auto liability insurance.

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Automotive Insurance
  • Driver's License
  • Older Adult Protective Services Act
