UPMC Health Plan is growing, and we are looking for you to join our Human Resources team! As part of this growth, we are seeking a full-time Senior Human Resources Consultant for our office located in Downtown Pittsburgh.

This opportunity will provide employee relations consultation and strategic business partnership to leaders in your assigned areas of our business.

An independent thinker under general direction and oversight of the Manager, Human Resources, the Sr. HR Consultant will provide strategic human resources consulting to business, operations and HR regarding the implementation of human resource policies and employee relations strategies. You will collaborate and coordinate organization-wide utilization of specialized services groups for optimum resolution of issues. Demonstrated ability to manage human resources programs and processes in support of business needs will be critical to the success of this role.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead business objectives with employees and management, serving as a senior business partner to management on HR-related issues and acts as a change agent. Accountable for managing and delivering HR programs and services within the organization
  • Provides leadership and mentorship within the HR department and oversee HR staff as needed.
  • Partner with leaders to provide and implement HR initiatives that support management and employees across the organization.
  • Collaborate with HR business and operational leaders to identify education gaps and development opportunities for management and employees. Partners with management to provide consultation on coaching and mentorship for staff.
  • Collaborate with HR team to design and plan interventions that facilitate organizational changes.
  • Drive change management practices to enable organizational effectiveness and foster a diversity & inclusion strategy that will maximize our competitive advantage and skills of the workforce.
  • Participate on local and/or organization wide committees that focus on projects that move the organization forward and towards meeting its strategic goals.
  • Effectively communicate expectations with business, operational, and HR partners while promoting a One Team collaborative atmosphere in which all functions of HR work together as one team.
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge and upgrade business acumen, to stay abreast of industry trends. Demonstrate capabilities and professional knowledge, and the ability to assimilate new knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in human resources, business or related field is required
  • Minimum three (3) years of employee relations (specific) experience required. 
  • 4-6 years of employee relations specific experience strongly preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local legislation as it applies to human resources and the employment process is required.
  • Experience with full cycle human resource environments is preferred, i.e. recruitment, on-boarding, learning and development, compensation, etc.
  • Oracle/PeopleSoft experience preferred.

Salary Range: $27.54 to $46.49
