Description

Purpose:
The Director, Account Management is responsible for strategic oversight of the Health Plan’s largest account, including implementation, utilization trending and member communications.

Responsibilities:
  • Leads service delivery for Medical, Pharmacy, Dental, Vision and FSA programs, supported by a Strategic Account Representative.
  • Serves as main point of contact for UPMC Corporate Benefits Staff for Group Health programs.
  • Orchestrates service delivery across Health Plan operations departments, as well as finance, network, data analytics, actuarial and underwriting.
  • Interfaces with Health Plan medical director & VP of Pharmacy Services for clinical initiatives.
  • Develops plan design strategy recommendations, in concert with supporting Health Plan departments, based on emerging claims utilization and industry benchmarking.
  • Active participant in Population Health Strategy team led by Sr. Director of Health & Product Integration. This group encompasses all WorkPartners services delivered to UPMC including Employee Health, Leave of Absence management, EAP, Health Promotions, Safety and Risk Control, Short Term Disability and Workers’ Compensation.
  • Provides support for employee engagement strategies that promote employee health, well-being and retention.
  • Supports UPMC in meeting budget targets for group health programs.
  • Claims data analysis and WorkPartners program integration.
  • Assists in development of UPMC business unit level performance objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field required 
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration preferred 
  • Five years account management experience in the health insurance/managed care or benefits consulting industry is required 
  • Proven track record in managing a business unit and client relationships 
  • Financial/Marketing analysis experience required 
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills 
  • Must possess a working knowledge of all business functions, including marketing, underwriting, utilization reporting, medical management, provider relations, and human resources 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Insurance Sales License required
