This is a part-time position that will have a flexible schedule of working 3 days per week.  This position covers Huntingdon County, but the applicant should be open to possible travel to Mifflin and Blair County also.  Travel is reimbursed at 54 cents per mile.  

Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate in peer supervision sessions.
  • Adhere to Agency and standard principles of infection control.
  • Assist in the orientation of new personnel, students and volunteer to the clinical setting.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members; act as a resource.
  • Demonstrates support of Agency mission and philosophy in delivery of services.
  • Develop and present community education programs.
  • Direct and counsel licensed practical nurses and homemaker/home health aides in patient care.
  • Instruct each client/family regarding emergency procedures.
  • Maintain and protect customer, staff, and Agency confidentiality.
  • Maintain safety awareness for patient, family and self.
  • Participate in Agency committees as requested.
  • Participate in educational programs orientation, quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in research activities as requested.
  • Possess Agency equipment required to perform assessment and implementation of care as outlined in plan of care and procedures.
  • Promote personal, co-worker, customer, and visitor safety during work duties.
  • Provide nursing care to individuals, families or groups with psychiatric/mental health problems/needs utilizing the nursing process. Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with the patient/families. Identify the patient/families problem(s)/need(s) through a continuous comprehensive assessment process. Establish with patient/family a mutual plan of care under the direction of the physician and in conjunction with internal Agency review process. Implement nursing and psychotherapeutic interventions. Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care based on patient need(s) or response(s). Identify variances to establish goals/outcomes and work in collaboration with supervisory personnel and utilization managers to implement care/services to assure attainment of outcomes. Utilize the education process to teach patient/families about their health and treatment needs. Utilize community resources in the overall plan of care. Consult and coordinate care/services with internal/external health care team members. Document and communicate observations, services and evaluations through reports, records and clinical conferences. Communicate and consult with the patient's physician. Provide direct nursing service in variety of settings. Identify the need for referrals for additional services/care.
  • Self-assess educational needs and initiate plan to maintain and attain general and specialty clinical competencies.
  • Works to achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction in delivery of services to internal/external customers.

Qualifications

Graduate of a Diploma School of Nursing accredited by NLN required. Bachelors Degree in Nursing is preferred. Minimum of one-year professional nursing experience in Mental Health/Psychiatric nursing. Competency in computer skills in a Windows based environment is preferred. Access to transportation in the Agency service area with valid Pennsylvania drivers license and auto liability insurance.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Registered, certified or licensed as required by state law for the profession. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
