Purpose:
To perform echocardiograms on inpatients and out patients. To assist with trans-esophageal echocardiograms.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a technical consultant in the review of echocardiograms with cardiologists to evaluate test results.
  • Acts as role model/mentor to students who rotate through the department.
  • Demonstrates Hamot's commitment to service excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
  • Must be available to take call for emergent echo cardiograms during hours of non-routine operation
  • Participates in educational sessions within the department, responsible for maintaining CME's needed to comply with ICAEL standards.
  • Participates in the scheduling of all echocardiograms within both the Medical Center and Hamot Heart Institute to assure prompt and efficient patient care.
  • Performs and/or assists with echocardiograms and trans-esophageal echocardiograms. 
  • Provides quality studies according to the 'standard guidelines' established by the Cardiology Dept. 
  • Demonstrates complete safety, efficiency, and accuracy when performing echocardiograms and assisting with trans-esophageal echocardiograms. 
  • Aides in performing any emergency resuscitation measures.
  • Possesses the ability to obtain and interpret information considering age specific needs.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an Ultrasound program with focus on Echocardiogram. 
  • Registered Echo Technologist or registered eligible. 
  • 1 year experience in accredited lab preferred. 
  • Cross trained in Vascular imaging and experience in Cardiology preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft preferred.
 
  • Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    • Must receive Adult Echo Registry within one year of hire
    • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
    • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
    • Act 73 FBI Clearance
    • Basic Life Support
    • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
