UPMC Community Medicine is hiring for a regular Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse, OP (LPN) to help support the day to day operations at the MULTI Tri Rivers Surgical Orthopedics offices located at UPMC Passavant (McCandless, PA) & Cranberry/Mars, PA. 

This position will work a regular Full Time daylight schedule 4 days per week from 7:00AM-5:00PM floating between both the Passavant & Cranberry/Mars, PA offices 

The incumbent will provide professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.

  • Assists provider in back office clinical duties including rooming patients, taking vital signs and complete patient history, performs basic triage and assists with minor in office procedures to include applying and removing dressings. Instruct patients on general testing/procedure instruction.
  • Assists team in answering phone messages with clear and concise information, obtain authorizations and schedule testing as needed.
  • Performs a variety of orthopedic related activities including applying and removing dressings, casts and splints, distributing and applying durable medical equipment.
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Draw blood.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.


  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing
  • One (1) year clinical experience preferred.
  • Epicare experience preferred
  • Surgical and/or Ortho experience preferred
  • Outpatient experience preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
