Purpose:

 

To assist in the various design and planning department activities to gain experience in the market of occupied healthcare planning, design, and construction for hospital and related facilities projects.


This Interior Design opportunity is a paid temporary position.

 

Responsibilities

  • With the guidance of planning and design department staff, work independently on drafting tasks for small projects.

  • Under the direction of the project designers, assist with the updating of architectural finish and design standards.

  • Assist with the management of the architectural material library. 

  • Assist with the installation of furniture and artwork through the capital construction program.

  • With the assistance of the project designers, create written scopes of work for potential capital projects.

  • Take part in user group meetings during the planning and design phase of capital projects.

  • Actively participate in construction document reviews with design consultants.

  • Under the direction of the project designers, assist with the development of furniture and artwork bid documents.

  • Assist with project photography on completed capital projects.

  • Take part in first impression rounding at Allegheny County Hospital campuses.

  • With the guidance of department staff, field verification of existing spaces and site visits during construction administration.

  • Perform all duties in accordance with system‐wide competencies/ behaviors

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Knowledge Requirements

  • Preference given to individuals currently pursuing degree in architecture, interior design or a similarly related field. 
  • Ability to work daytime shifts. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to multi‐task in a fast‐paced environment. 
  • Strong organizational skills and knowledge of Microsoft suite of products.
  • Interest in medical/ hospital planning and design is beneficial but not required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance or Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
