UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Government Program Specialist to support the Pharmacy Services department. This position will be based out of downtown Pittsburgh, PA and will work Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

 


The Government Program Specialist, Pharmacy Services will maintain direct accountability for reporting, compliance, financial analysis, and planning and coordination of efforts with other departments to assure effective operations of the Pharmacy Department. This position will also support all other Pharmacy needs for other Health Plan functional departments associated with government oversight.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the timely completion of all government-required reports, questionnaires, and surveys.
  • Develop and maintain an organizational framework that supports all government programs of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Ensure operational performance within the Pharmacy call center that assures regulatory compliance.
  • Inform and advise the Manager of Pharmacy Services of current trends, issues, problems, and activities in functional areas, and develop and implement appropriate interventions to facilitate problem resolution and policy making.
  • Interact extensively with internal and external customers to build and maintain positive relationships supporting business goals and objectives; act as departmental liaison.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of training and development programs.
  • Work closely with Pharmacy Operations to assure accurate formulary information and policies are communicated and implemented by the Pharmacy Benefit Manager.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Business, health care, management, or related field required
  • 2 years of experience in managed care plans required
  • Experience in Pennsylvania programs strongly preferred.
  • 2 years of Medicare experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as above average analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong leadership skills and independent decision-making ability essential.
