Description

Purpose:
The Pre-Op Center Assessment Nurse has the authority, responsibility and shift accountability for the delivery of the nursing assessment and overall chart review for all electively scheduled surgical patients. The Pre-Op Center Assessment Nurse, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, applies competent clinical knowledge and skills to achieve patient optimization for surgery preparation. The Pre-Op Center Assessment Nurse will possess the ability to assess patient data based on age-specific needs. This position demonstrates a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

 

Hours: Monday through Friday daylight hours

Responsibilities:

  • Completes chart reviews Fields post-operative phone calls dealing with clinical issues
  • Reviews all clinical documents associated with a patient to optimize the patient for surgery based on Anesthesia established guidelines Intervenes with CRNP from anesthesia as well as doctors offices for any necessary missing elements of clinical care
  • Reviews and discusses any abnormalities in clinical documents with Anesthesiologist as well as surgeons as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months experience.
  • BSN preferred.

The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patents status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures. Special skills and Abilities Required Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments and patients/families. Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care. Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to leas others in application of the nursing process.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Registered Nurse
