Purpose:

UPMC Community Medicine is hiring for a regular Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to help support the day to day operations at the Tri Rivers Surgical Associates office located in Wexford, PA. 

This position will have focus on the Musculoskeletal Centers Osteoporosis Program and will work a Part-Time daylight schedule two (2) days per week. 

Provide professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer injectable osteoporosis medication and document appropriately and accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
  • Assess patient status and order labs, medications and dexascans as per the written protocol for the Osteoporosis Program.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Assist with medication ordering and authorization for the providers under the Osteoporosis Program.
  • Communicate effectively with both the providers and patients to provide quality care which includes treatment monitoring and tracking/relaying test results.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Draw blood.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing. 
  • One (1) year clinical experience preferred.
  • EMR/Triage experience preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
