Description

Purpose:
Performs safe and efficient transport of patients and items to and from nursing units and other departments in accordance with established policies and procedures.

This temporary position is Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Responsibilities:
  • Accurately record transportation data via the department's prescribed method.
  • Comply with all departmental policy and procedure, including safety, personal conduct, and dress code.
  • Courteously and empathetically interact with patients suffering from a range of ailments.
  • Inspect and disinfect transportation equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Respond to dispatchers via pager and/or phone.
  • Safely transport and/or escort patients to and from various locations, such as operating rooms, patient units, and treatment centers in an efficient manner.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Six months of uninterrupted employment in customer service or home healthcare Hospital/healthcare experience preferred.
  • CPR and AED certifications strongly preferred.
  • Ability to remain on feet and mobile for at least eight hour periods, while pushing walking with, and assisting patients throughout the facility.
  • Ability to push weights of 150 lbs. and over for entirety of shift.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in an ever-changing environment.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance or Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Basic Life Support
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
