Description

Purpose:
Provide comprehensive family services primarily within the home and community (family therapy, individual therapy, crisis prevention / intervention). Provide crisis intervention, immediate behavioral reinforcements, emotional support, time-structured activities, time-out procedures, passive restraint (when necessary), and additional psychosocial rehabilitation activities as prescribed in the treatment plan. Acts as a senior member of the team, mentoring the Family Based Clinician I.

This position is based out of the Franklin Building, 1011 Bingham St, Pittsburgh, PA, 15203.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist parents in the implementation of behavioral programs designed by Applied Behavior Analyst and/or primary clinician.
  • Assist teachers in the implementation of behavioral programs designed by clinical educator and/or primary clinician.
  • Attend all mandatory treatment team meetings.
  • Attend and participate in weekly supervision meetings for a minimum of two hours per week.
  • Attend and successfully complete Family-Based Training Curriculum by actively participating in lectures and clinical presentations including video taping, role playing and sculpting techniques.
  • Attend periodic staff development training via W.P.I.C as needed.
  • Collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team and other professionals working in the home or in other community settings, participate in interagency planning meetings, and coordinate case management needs of client/family in collaboration with master level partner.
  • Follow the individualized treatment plan established for the child or adolescent as developed with child, family and team members including individual, family and community goals.
  • Inform supervisor and treatment team promptly of any unexpected or unusual change in client functioning, i.e., behavior, family stressors, living situation, etc.
  • Maintain precise records of all patient contacts and meetings, and report this information accurately and efficiently to supervisors and treatment team including Clinical notes, Social History, Interagency Meeting Reports, Treatment Plans and Discharge Summaries.
  • Maintain productivity standards between team and member delivered treatment. This will include structural family therapy, crisis intervention/prevention, case management/advocacy, and behavior analysis.
  • Provide 1:1 interventions to a child or adolescent at home, school, day care, YMCA, emergency room, other community-based program, or community setting when the behavior without this intervention would require a more restrictive treatment or educational setting.
  • Provide direct mental health services for children and adolescents (under 21 years of age) in their home and/or community setting who are on the verge of an acute crisis or in the midst of a chronic cycle of major crises which places the patient at-risk of psychiatric hospitalization, out-of-home placement, and/or a more restrictive educational setting. Provide crisis intervention, immediate behavioral reinforcements, emotional support, time-structured activities, time-out procedures, Family Based has a no restraint policy and additional psychosocial rehabilitation activities as prescribed in the treatment plan.
  • Provide for confidentiality and demonstrate courteous, cooperative, respectful behavior towards children, adolescents and their families, professionals and member of larger systems involved in treatment process.
  • Provided comprehensive family services primarily within the home and community (family therapy, individual therapy, crisis prevention/intervention).
  • Provides clinical oversight and/or mentorship to junior clinician.
  • Provides oversight of clinical documentation for the team.
  • Serves as team leader in family based model.
  • Support family's efforts to stabilize the child or adolescent and promote age-appropriate behavior by working with the family utilizing Structural Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Parent Management Training, Applied Behavior Analysis Skills etc.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling and one (1) year of experience in a Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) working in family services, crisis intervention, parent management and behavioral intervention models required
OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling and three (3) years of experience in a Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) working in family services, crisis intervention, parent management and behavioral intervention models and certificate of completion of Family Based Training required. 
  • Degrees in other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience (IMPORTANT:  IF YOUR DEGREE IS NOT IN SOCIAL WORK, PSYCHOLOGY OR COUNSELING, PLEASE UPLOAD YOUR TRANSCRIPTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED).
  • Experience working with children / adolescents with severe psychiatric illness is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of CASSP principles. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a treatment team, work independently and demonstrate sound clinical judgment and ability to utilize and seek supervision. 
  • Ability to develop effective working relationship with professional team, parents, schools, CYS and JPO systems. 
  • May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management - CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
  • Driver's License
