Description

This Research Specialist will be part of the NIH funded Pittsburgh site of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study. The ABCD Research Consortium consists of 21 research sites across the country and will invite approximately 10,000 children ages 9-10 to join the study. Researchers will track their biological and behavioral development through adolescence into young adulthood.

Purpose:

Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s). Collect and gather research data for research project.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.
  • Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).
  • Conduct research assessments with parents and children including structured interviews, neuropsychological testing and self-report computerized measures
  • Assist in MRI screening, preparation and brain imaging scans; provide instructions to subjects while undergoing fMRI
  • Explain research protocol and obtain informed consent from participants
  • Maintain and update database; perform data entry and verification as needed
  • Track and assess subjects for follow-up; participate in the active retention of subjects; schedule and confirm appointments
  • Process participant payments via the We-pay system; arrange for subject transportation
  • Attend weekly staff coordination meetings with study coordinator and/or Investigators to provide study progress report

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required, preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology or related research field. 
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required. 
  • Previous work experience with elementary aged children preferred 
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management
