Description

Purpose:
Plan, organize, and implement speech language services, which adhere to the Pennsylvania Speech-Language and Hearing Licensure Act. This will be done in a manner consistent with efficiency, cost effectiveness and regulatory compliance.

This person will work up to 10 hours per week. They would be working mainly Blair County with a possibility of cases in Centre and Bedford county

Responsibilities:
  • Actively seek and support family input into on-going design of Individualized Family Service Plan strategies and activities.
  • Collaborate with the families during Individual Family Service Plan team meeting to develop effective plan for achieving Speech Therapy outcomes desired by family.
  • Collaborate with the family to develop a description of their child and their Early Intervention services , three months prior to the third birthday, for the purpose of transition into school system.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation (i.e. service plan, quaterly/6month/annual review, contact logs, progress reports, etc) within the timeframes dictated by regulations, County/Agency processes and best practice.
  • Consult with therapist(s) and other team members on individual child-related activities to coordinate the most comprehensive and efficient model of service.
  • Demonstrate and teach activities to the parents or caregiver to incorporate into typical family routines and play.
  • Demonstrate support of Agency mission and philosophy in delivery of services.
  • Design activities for each child/family which are specifically intended to promote each area of development that has been identified as an Speech Therapy service area.
  • Evaluate enrolled children on an annual basis and report results to Multi-disciplinary Team to determine continued eligibility for service.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the therapy service plan and make revisions based on child/family response and professional judgment.
  • Handle emergencies or program concerns and report the incident to the Director as soon as possible.
  • Insure the safety of children while under their guidance and act as a mandated reported when appropriate.
  • Maintain and protect patient, client and Agency confidentiality.
  • Meet or exceed EI productivity standards as well as adhere to other budget standards related to expense and revenue.
  • Obtains and submits documentation for pre-service, mandatory annual 24 hours of early intervention continuing education, and mandatory HNA trainings (i.e. Child CPR, First Aid techniques, fire safety, emergency evacuation, infection control, orientation to the EI system, cultural competence, mandatory reporting, mediation, procedural safeguards, etc).
  • Participate in the development of and adherence to EI departmental policies and procedures related to speech therapy.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of educational programs for the staff as required.
  • Plan and schedule home visits to meet needs of the families in cooperation with Director and adhere to the schedule as determined.
  • Promote personal and co-worker safety during work duties.
  • Promote teamwork through positive and productive communication with all EI team members.
  • Represent and participate in Agency professional and community activities as requested.
  • Respond to families needs for special services and refer to Service Coordinator when appropriate.
  • Work to achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction in the delivery of services to internal/external customers.

Qualifications

Masters degree, as well as Pennsylvania State Licensure, in Speech/Language Pathology. Three years of Speech Therapy experience, with at least one year in pediatrics. Competency in computer skills in a Windows based environment. Demonstrate ability to perform computer skills in specialized computer application(s) as needed. Access to transportation in the Agency service area with valid Pennsylvania drivers license and auto liability insurance.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR certification. Registered, certified or licensed as required by state law for the profession. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
