Perform, under general direction and according to established guidelines and procedures, routine and complex procedures to obtain data for use in the clinical diagnosis of disorders of the nervous system in at least one of the following modalities of Neurodiagnostics: Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Epilepsy Monitoring and Polysomnography (PSG), or Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS). Perform duties in various diagnostic and research areas as assigned. Assist with the daily operations of the department. Train and mentor new staff.

We will consider all levels of the career field.   The final title and pay will be determined by education, experience, and certifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean, adjust and perform routine maintenance and repair on neurodiagnostic equipment to ensure proper functioning. Trouble shoot routine equipment problems.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and medical personnel to resolve problems and to advise concerning laboratory procedures, techniques and equipment.Document pertinent medical history from the patient or family members.
  • Identify EEG waveforms/patterns during testing and communicate to medical personnel. Recognize changes in the clinical condition of the patient and correlate those changes with the EEG. Discriminate the changes requiring intervention such as seizures or cardiac arrhythmia.
  • Operate computer equipment to record nervous system responses that provide quantitative and objective measures of the neuronal/sensory function.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associates degree and two (2) years of EEG experience
  • OR
  • Enrolled in or graduate of a CAAHEP accredited END program and two (2) years of EEG experience.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance or Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists
