Description

The Corporate Controller department at UPMC is seeking an experienced Accounting professional to fill the Lead, Accounting Analyst role. The position is responsible primarily for completing the most complex accounting and analytical activities associated with maintaining general ledger accounts and developing/improving existing financial statements and reports for systemwide Finance executives. The ideal candidate will prepare and review annual budgets and regular forecasts and projections for the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis.

Responsibilities:
  • Creates complex accounting analytics for internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Develops administrative tasks, special projects and training programs as assigned. Acts a liaison for the department in meetings with management.
  • Develops analyses and reports to support system-wide finance executives. Prepares detailed analyses for annual audit.
  • Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions
  • Prepares and posts complex monthly journal entries.
  • Prepares general ledger account reconciliations for designated accounts. Proposes correcting entries.
  • Prepares reconciliation of actual to budget variance analysis.
  • Responsible for managing and mentoring department's Finance Management Rotation (FMR) program participant
  • Review proposed contracts and business transactions for financial risk and proper accounting treatment.
  • Trains, supervises and manages the performance of personnel including the establishment of performance standards, objectives and annual reviews, which must be completed in a timely manner. Will formally supervise a minimum of 2.0 FTE's.
  • Works collaboratively with and is accountable to PSD Executive Administrators and Executive Management and, if applicable, UPMC Corporate Finance, other UPMC organizations, and School of Medicine.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or related business field is required.
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience is required.
  • CPA/MBA is preferred.
  • Prior experience leading/supervising staff preferred.
  • Microsoft Office spreadsheet application required and PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.

Salary Range: $28.37 to $47.88
