Description

Purpose:
Provide patrol/surveillance of interior and exterior of assigned facility sites helping to assure a safe environment for staff and clients. This is an unarmed position.

This is a part-time position that will work approximately 16-20 hours per week.  Hours are 4 p.m- 8 p.m Monday through Thursday, Fridays as needed, and may work some day shifts if coverage is needed. 

Responsibilities:
  • Achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction in delivery of services to internal/external customers.
  • Act as evacuation team leader to include training/assembly of a first response team to respond to: Fire alarms Violent incidents Bomb threats Missing children Natural Disasters
  • Arrange deliveries and unloading with all vendors.
  • Arrange for repairs and/or improvements to facility and regular maintenance.
  • Assist in food preparation when needed.
  • Complete Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCM) training and maintain certification yearly.
  • Demonstrate support of agency mission and philosophy in delivery of services.
  • Implement disaster operation manual.
  • Maintain and protect the patient, client, and agency confidentiality.
  • Monitor, respond, and document security/alarm systems. Respond to counselor's panic alarms. Respond to alarm calls from security agency.
  • Observation of in-house, state and federal drug screens-. Observe and escort client to proper restroom. Confirm that the urine is not contaminated and it is at body temperature. Complete drug screen dip test strip to determine results. Review results from test with counselor. Assure proper disposal of gloves as medical waste. Prepare and seal specimen for immediate shipment. Complete proper mailing label. Document signature as collector.
  • Participate in educational programs, orientation, and quality improvement activities.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs for selected tasks. Submit work orders to facility manager on a regular scheduled basis. Maintain maintenance log of repairs completed by behavioral health staff.
  • Promote personal, client and co-worker safety.
  • Provide additional security for staff/visitors when working with criminal justice or actively psychotic clients. Escort clients to and from groups at check in and when leaving. Escort Parole Officers to waiting area other than treatment area. Escort clients to crisis as needed.
  • Provide surveillance of exterior of facilities. Patrol perimeter of facilities to include parking lots, play areas, wooded areas.
  • Provide surveillance of interior of facilities. Patrolling halls, restrooms, and all common areas of the facilities.
  • Recognize and respond to potential client/visitor crisis. Monitor and respond to pager system when counselor is with possible crisis situation. De-escalate agitated clients. Recognize need for assistance with client. Protect personal space of self and surrounding clients, visitors, and/or staff.
  • Represent and participate in agency professional and community activities as requested.
  • Represent the Agency as a safety facility representative. Maintain safety bulletin board. Prepare monthly safety report for assigned facilities. Assure first aid kits have adequate supplies. Maintain adequate batteries in flashlights for emergency situations. Conduct all required drills, i.e. fire and evacuation in accordance to licensure requirements. Monitor and document key distribution. Assist with orientation of new employees to safety procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to bench warrants, subpoenas and court orders being delivered on site.
  • Responsible for implementing on the job training of Security Officer position
  • Responsible for maintenance of: Fire extinguishers Alarms 911 phones and panic system Emergency lighting

Qualifications

High School or GED required. Minimum of two years experience in security/law enforcement related work. Access to transportation in the Agency service area with valid Pennsylvania drivers license and auto liability insurance.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR training, non-violent crisis prevention intervention, (CCM) confidentiality, HIV, and STD training within 6 months of hire.
