Description

To serve as Research Associate and be responsible for recruiting, assessing, and retaining subjects for clinical and neuroimaging studies.

Responsibilities:
  • Completes formal diagnostic and assessment interviews required at all phases of the study including screening, initial evaluation of child/adolescent subjects and parents, and follow-up assessments. 
  • Performs neuroimaging assessments, including scheduling appointments at the CMU SIBR, training participant on tasks and the mock scanner, running experiments, and administering scales.
  • Maintains ongoing records for subject tracking and clinical assessment records in an organized and in a manner easily accessible by the appropriate research faculty and staff.
  • Interfaces effectively with research and clinical staff to maintain efficient communication about subjects, scheduled interviews, data collection, data entry, quality control issues and reports.
  • Helps to recruit participants, by collaborating with research staff from related studies, introducing the study at relevant meetings, developing and maintaining a lab website, posting flyers, and generating new and creative recruitment strategies.
  • Aids in data entry and/or supervises work-study students on these tasks.
  • Attends and participates in all project-related meetings, including clinical and research team meetings.
  • Aids in quality control and preprocessing of neuroimaging data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of research experience in either psychology or clinical neuroscience preferred.
  • Experience administering standard research assessments (e.g., K-SADS-PL, SCID, etc.) preferred.
  • At least 1 years of clinical assessment experience with children and adolescents preferred.
  • Highly responsible and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain flexible schedule including evening and Saturday hours.
  • Proficiency in basic computer software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office) and capacity to learn new software packages (e.g. e-Prime, SPM12).
  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to effectively prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills, with ability to establish and maintain rapport with research subjects and families.

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management
