The Perinatal Health and Behaviors group, under the supervision of Dr. Michele Levine, is seeking a research clinician for a federally funded clinical trial to promote mental and physical health behavior change and weight management among pregnant and postpartum women.  This clinician will receive training in a manual-driven intervention program developed for weight management, wellness and health-behavior change among pregnant and postpartum women.  Treatment is conducted with women throughout pregnancy and during the postpartum period at regularly scheduled medical appointments, various community locations, in participant’s homes, and over the phone.  Transportation costs for travel to treatment sessions will be reimbursed.  Weekly group supervision is provided by licensed clinical psychologists and various trained clinicians.  In addition, this clinician will also assist with routine study assessments with participants, including questionnaire and computer task administration, held at the group’s Oakland office location or Magee Women’s Hospital.  The ideal candidate possesses clinical experience, preferably in a research setting and has access to transportation.  Experience delivering manualized treatment in community locations is preferred but not required.  This position is grant funded.


Responsibilities:
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly therapist supervision meetings.
  • Complete documentation related to research assessments, treatment plans, session notes and transfer summaries for patients.
  • Conduct clinical or research-designed therapy with patients.
  • Conduct informed consent procedures for subjects entering study protocols.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and structured psychiatric interviews needed to make psychiatric diagnosis.
  • Conduct psychiatric telephone screen evaluations with potentially eligible subjects as needed.
  • Diagnose and coordinate appropriate dispositions for potential subjects for research studies.
  • Present findings of clinical assessment to supervising clinicians.
  • Share on-call coverage via pager service for patients treated through study protocols as needed
  • Some travel to clinical settings in Pittsburgh area as needed to recruit, assess, and treat subjects in study protocols.
  • Ability to assess potential emergencies with collaboration with senior personnel, take appropriate action.
  • Work as part of interdisciplinary treatment team to maintain protocol standards and ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Social Work, Arts/Sciences in Psychology, or related field required.
  • Three years of postgraduate clinician experience in interviewing, counseling, and assessment preferred.
  • Knowledge of DSM-IV preferred
  • Prior Training in structured diagnostic clinical interviews preferred.
  • Computer and word processing skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    Current PA license in psychology (or ability to qualify for PA license) preferred.

    CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management
