Purpose:

UPMC Community Medicine is hiring for a regular Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse, OP (LPN) to help support the day to day operations at the Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal offices located at UPMC Passavant (McCandless, PA) & Cranberry/Mars, PA. 

This position will work a regular Full Time daylight schedule Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm floating between both the Passavant & Cranberry/Mars, PA Sports Medicine offices 

The incumbent will provide professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs basic triage. Assists providers in back office clinical duties including rooming patients, taking vitals and complete patient histories. Assists with minor in office procedures.
  • Provides complete documentation in Epic Care, selects and signs appropriate patient’s orders per provider verbal orders.
  • Performs a variety of orthopedic related activities including applying and removing dressings, casts and splints and removing sutures and staples. Knowledge of specialized casting and bracing. Distributes durable medical equipment when necessary.
  • Instructs patients on home exercise plans, durable medical equipment and cast, splint and wound care.
  • Provides accurate documentation to radiology staff to ensure appropriate x-rays are completed.
  • Assists with answering phone messages. Provides complete and accurate information to assist provider in answering patient calls. Clear and concise documentation is used and all messages are resolved in a timely manner. 
  • Assists with improving office flow by supporting other teams or departments as needed. Proactively adjusts processes to facilitate office flow and maintain office hours. Travels to satellite offices as needed.
  • Obtains authorizations and coordinates with patients as needed. 
  • Maintains exam rooms and Clinical work area. Keep the areas neat, clean and stocked with necessary supplies. Performs end of day room cleaning and processes and documents properly. 
  • Reviews and documents, as needed, data found in PA PDMP and provides to provider to review prior to narcotics being prescribed.
  • Observes HIPPA privacy practices. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive patient information at all times. 
  • Assists provider in administering ImPact Tests, able to navigate through site and provide accurate results to provider to give proper concussion care.
  • Focused in Orthopedics, Sports medicine, concussion and osteoporosis care 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing
  • One (1) year clinical experience preferred.
  • EMR/Triage experience preferred
  • Outpatient experience preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Licensed Practical Nurse

Salary Range: $13.87 to $21.19
