Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC is seeking a full-time Program Director to support our intensive outpatient program (IOP). Our IOP consists of group therapy and other mental health treatment strategies. This position will be primarily based in the South Side neighborhood in Pittsburgh, with some travel as needed to Pine Township/Wexford.

As Program Director, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing all services in the department. You will oversee a team of behavioral therapy clinicians, including supervisors.  You will plan, develop, and evaluate  programs within the service line. The Program Director will work to provide clinical and administrative leadership for programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess, evaluate, and identify program strength and opportunities for improvement through PDSA process.
  • Assists Clinical Administrator in annual strategic goals which coincide with the mission of the service line.
  • Assists in preparing for and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Attends and participates in all relevant WPIC/provider/ and stakeholder meetings or committees to ensure positive working relationships and increase knowledge of systems.
  • Conducts individual evaluations of staff performance within the set time period.
  • Coordinate, consult and collaborate with inpatient, ambulatory, and research programs.
  • Coordinates staff development within the program to meet program needs, including annual review of position specific competencies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively respond to emergent situations, including appropriate notifications.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance of all program and institute policies and procedures.
  • Develop, monitor and maintain program within the proposed budget, including monitoring and maintaining productivity standards.
  • Ensures all new staff are oriented and trained appropriately. Provides/coordinates effective training and individual supervision for all program staff.
  • Implements new developments or program expansion representing current behavioral health trends.
  • Maintains established Department procedures and objectives of quality assurance, safety, infection control and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversees recruitment, retention and employee relations and/or corrective action in coordination with the Clinical Administrator and Human Resources.
  • Serves as a resource/consultant for consumers, clinicians, nursing, and all staff

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in a human services field.
  • Five years demonstrated competence in program administration required. 
  • Proven leadership skills required and an ability to work with consumers and their families and to work collaboratively with other staff members specifically demonstrating communication, coordination and organizational skills.
  • Previous behavioral health administration experience highly preferred  
  • Knowledge of community and outpatient programs to provide continuing behavioral treatment to the patient and family. 
  • Must be able to work independently, set priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management
