Are you a current nursing student and interested in seeing what being a nurse is really like?  Would you love the opportunity to learn from a trained preceptor in a 1-on-1 environment?  Do you want to stand-out from the rest and have a unique internship experience with our Home Health team?  Apply now to our Student Nurse Internship Program with our Home Health team and begin your journey of contributing to Life Changing Medicine!

Are you a current nursing student and interested in seeing what being a nurse is really like? UPMC’s Student Nurse Internship (SNI) program is a 10-week paid summer internship; this year the program begins in mid-May and ends on July 27. SNIs have an opportunity to work directly with a trained preceptor… 1-on-1! In addition to providing direct patient care, supplementary educational sessions provide the opportunity for the Student Nurse Intern to build relationships and learn about their profession. SNIs can work up to 40 hours per week (Monday through Friday) with an option to be with a nurse on-call or working weekends, following the schedule of their preceptor.

Through improvements in technology and advances in medicine, patients are now leaving the hospital sooner and continuing their care at home. Our Home Health SNI will have the opportunity to provide and observe care in our adult population alongside a nurse preceptor, work in the communities they serve and provide specialized care to patients of all ages. You’ll have a variety of experiences with our specialty nurses in infusion, wound care, mental health, pediatrics, obstetrics, advanced nursing practice, cardiopulmonary, ortho/rehab, ob/gyn, bariatrics, diabetes, oncology, and remote monitoring, as well as observe the practice of our therapists, social workers, and registered dietician. It is an opportunity to build relationships, provide care and diversify your health care experience.

Come join the Home Health team and learn more about what happens when the patient goes home! Home Health nursing at UPMC can offer you flexibility, access to the most modern equipment and technology, opportunities for advancement, independence and more!  We invite you to join us this Summer to explore the rewarding and fast-growing field of Home Health nursing!

During the Program, SNIs agree to complete an essay about their experience, a post-program evaluation survey, and make every effort to attend Mid-Summer and End of Summer Events. For internal candidates, please note that this is a temporary position and transferring into a temporary position may affect your current employment benefits.
