Purpose:

This position will prepare a range of documents (e.g., academic reports, promotion recommendations, award nominations), social media content, and other written correspondence to contribute to the research, educational, and clinical missions of the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Psychiatry.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in development of workshops and curricula for departmental trainings.
  • Collect and update faculty data for the Department's website and its intranet site PsyHub.
  • Draft introductions and acknowledgments for Department's lecture series and special events.
  • Draft recommendation letters for faculty promotions and create and submit academic promotion dossiers.
  • Identify and post appropriate content to the Department's social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • Prepare award nominations, letters of recommendation and letters of institutional support.
  • Research and write content for the Department's Annual Report and other reports required by the School of Medicine, University, and UPMC.
  • Research and write news features on faculty honors, innovative educational and clinical programs, departmental participation at scientific and clinical conferences, and key findings by Department investigators for publication on Department's website.
  • Complete all of the above with 100% accuracy within stated deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • One to three years of relevant experience 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent research, reporting and proofreading skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively multi-task 
  • Highly developed skills with Microsoft Office Products, especially Word and PowerPoint 
  • Experience with social media and knowledge or stategies for building social followings preferred
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop preferred 
  • Basic understanding of medical and scientific terminology preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
