Purpose:
Responsible for general kitchen sanitation and washing of pots and dishes in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Duty Manager, Director of Dining Services, Production Manager, and/or Executive Chef to assure that quality service is provided at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in training of new DMO employees under the direction of the Production Manager.
  • Attend all departmental meetings.
  • Attend all mandatory in-service education programs.
  • Break down dish machine and clean.
  • Check trash cans continuously.
  • Clean large equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Complete all mandatory training via My HUB.
  • Complete daily cleaning assignments.
  • Cooperate with staff of other departments in performing job duties.
  • Deliver and pick-up meal carts.
  • Deliver home-delivered meals to the community.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fire safety procedures and assist with evacuation of residents to a safe location in the event of fire or other emergency.
  • Keep dish and pot areas orderly and clean.
  • Maintain areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Promote clean, safe and neat environment for residents, self and staff.
  • Record dish machine temperatures.
  • Remove trash and break down boxes.
  • Return clean dishes and pots to proper storage areas.
  • Set up dish machine.
  • Sort silverware frequently.
  • Sweep and mop all floors in the kitchen, dish room, and buffet areas, elevator and offices.
  • Wash dishes, glasses and silver, pots and pans.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, or currently completing required studies
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Good communication skills
  • Sound mental and physical health
  • Ability to get along well with others, to demonstrate flexibility and patience, to work as a member of a team, and to demonstrate a high level of sensitivity and interest in people, especially older adults.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Older Adult Protective Services Act
