Would you like to gain experience working with a diverse group of faculty in a unique cross-disciplinary research environment? The Center for Adolescent Rewards, Rhythms and Sleep (CARRS), an NIH-funded Center, Examining Sleep, Circadian Rhythms, Brain Function, Mood, and Behavior in Adolescents is looking for a Research Coordinator to help with lab management within a psychiatric sleep lab at the University of Pittsburgh. They would be primarily responsible for overseeing lab management tasks such as staff scheduling, participant data management, scheduling participant lab visits, and overseeing participant lab visits (including fMRI visits & bio-sample collection and processing).
The Research Coordinator will work closely with the Project Coordinator, other Research/recruitment staff, the Data Manager, the staff of the Sleep and Behavioral Neuroscience Center and the Magnetic Resonance Research Center and will be involved in general lab management. The ideal candidate has experience with or an interest in working with adolescents and has an interest in psychiatric and/or bio-medical research. Additionally, this candidate will have excellent communication skills, is highly organized, enjoys working in a collaborative work environment, enjoys new learning experiences, enjoys interacting with new people, and embodies a professional work ethic: timeliness, dependability, adaptability, and leadership skills. The position requires occasional early evening and weekend hours.
This position is grant funded.
Purpose:
Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s). Collect and gather research data for research project.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule research staff for participant lab visits
- Oversee and organize data from lab visits
- Oversee and train team of research specialists, research associates, and directed research students involved in participant lab visits
- Monitor and maintain lab visit calendar
- Monitor lab set-up prior to participant visits
- Pay and document participant payment
- Collect data according to study protocols, including behavioral tasks and fMRI scans.
- Perform other research duties as assigned.
- Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Qualifications
- B.A. degree, or equivalent combination of experience and training - including 3-5 years of experience in coordinating multiple aspects of research projects (patient recruitment, assessment, treatment planning, and data collection,) required.
- Previous experience with adolescents and/or families is preferred.
- Familiarity with ACCESS & EXCEL preferred.
- Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends (including Saturdays and/or Sundays).
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
