The Lead Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst develops and supports solutions that turn data into actionable information, enabling data driven decisions for UPMC. The Lead BI Analyst will be tasked with leading a broad spectrum of BI activities: cultivating new data integrations across clients, normalizing data between disparate data sources, creating recurring and ad-hoc reports and developing data visualizations that simplify complex data sets and analyses.

This position will work Monday through FRiday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The main location for this position is the US Steel Tower but remote opportunities will also be available. 


  • Collaborate with executive leadership on developing a Business Intelligence and strategic analytics roadmap, Present insights, opportunities, and findings to executive leadership, Develop relationships with key service line leaders to understand business and analytical needs
  • Position may manage up to 3 direct reports: Lead the development of BI integrations between ERP, clinical and 3rd party systems and the data warehouse, Lead efforts to maintain, validate and update data within the data warehouse to ensure data integrity
  • Liaison for clients and 3rd parties to identify new data sources and understand changes to existing data sources, Maintain knowledge of industry standards and best practices and keeping current with industry trends and emerging technologies, Develop and maintain robust documentation of data sources, integrations and reports, Develop, execute and maintain test scripts to validate report accuracy and expected results



  • B.S. degree in Information Technology, Business or equivalent; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years experience in a Business Intelligence related role
  • Experience with data integration and ETL tools
  • Experience with data modeling and analysis for data warehousing, big data and data analytics
  • Experience collaborating with business stakeholder to develop business requirements and functional specification documents
  • Experience with supply chain data in a healthcare environment
  • Understanding and knowledge of data architecture
