Description
Purpose:
Promotes independence of residents through utilization of general recreation resources. Provides activity services and assist with department functions through completion of supportive duties.
Responsibilities:
- Incorporate leading/evidence-based practice in quality/safety into every day work. Commit to high quality, safe work; encourage others to have similar standards. Identify processes/systems that could lead to inefficient practices, unsafe conditions, errors or adverse events. Avoid shortcuts to ensure quality and safety measures are not circumvented. Encourage patient and family involvement in processes involvingpatient safety. Speak up with other service partners to ensure high quality and safety. Report serious events/incidents per policy
- Delivers calendars, newsletters, activity books to resident rooms
- Assists with the transportation of residents
- Organizes and leads activities in 1:1 or group setting, taking into account the needs and interests of individual residents; modify activities as needed to maximize resident success.
- Know and follow all organizational/departmental policies/procedures.
- Records resident activity participation daily on the electronic computer documentation system
- Requests needed supplies in advance to ensure material availability
- Contributes to the resident newsletter and other media by taking pictures and providing information as needed
- Plans and promotes resident activities in advance to provide quality programs.
- Actively practice behaviors associated with SH Service Excellence expectations. Smile at and greet everyone enthusiastically, treat everyone with respect, dignity and C.A.R.E.2. Be an ambassador for UPMC Susquehanna. Provide the best C.A.R.E.2 for our patients no matter what.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent Required. 1 year of experience preferred. One year Long Term Care experience preferred. Work or volunteer experience providing recreation services to special populations or senior citizens preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Nurse Aide Certification Preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
