We're searching for a Statistician to join the UPMC team. This is a regular, full-time position that offers flexible work arrangements!
In this role, the Statistician provides statistical support and direction for projects which may encompass quality improvement, research or operational questions. To successfully perform the role, the Statistician must understand report design and statistical analysis as well as the causes of clinical trends and anomalies in data. They must also have the ability to translate goals and objectives into testable hypotheses. Furthermore, the position requires the ability to articulate these opportunities to internal and external audiences in both oral and written format, implement the solutions, and track and monitor progress.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with internal and external customers and interdisciplinary teams.
- Document analyses and constructs used in analysis.
- Participate in the preparation of manuscripts, reports and presentations from data generated by analyses.
- Meet deadlines and turnaround times set by managers and department director.
- Write new programs for data analysis and conduct new data analysis as needed.
- Perform statistical analyses, and then be able to explain this analysis to a non-technical audience of both internal and external customers including senior management.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Masters or above) in mathematics, statistics or biostatistics, psychology or a related field is required
- Superior computer skills are a given in relevant software packages such as, but not limited to, Stata, SAS, or R
- Competency in or willingness to learn SQL
- Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred, but those with relevant experience in other industries will be considered.
