Description

UPMC Mercy is hiring a casual Catering Associate to support our Catering/Production Team! This position will work an average of 8 hours per week with various daylight weekday hours, occasional weekends, and holidays. This is a perfect job for a student or making some extra money on the side! 

The Catering/Production Team is well coordinated with a strong work ethic. Preferred candidates for this role will have some food service/catering experience, and the ability to understand and follow recipes. Candidates must be capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling an average of 25-50 pounds. 

Purpose:
Responsible for the preparation and service of high-quality, nutritionally-appropriate foods that are satisfying to the guest. Observes safe food handling procedures and maintain the sanitation of the work area and equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Chill, store, and record all prepared and leftover food by health department guidelines; maintain temperature cooling log documentation.
  • Maintain an inspection-ready work area consistently.
  • Uses and maintains equipment according to manufacturer and department guidelines; follows all safety procedures.
  • Complete in-advance preparation requirements for the next day of service.
  • Produce high-quality cold and grilled food products according to standardized recipes and production sheet volume requirements.
  • Provide a courteous and helpful customer service attitude daily.
  • Prepare all foods within designated timeframes; monitor food usage throughout service to ensure volume needs are met.
  • Adhere to Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace. Store chemicals and cleaning supplies away from food production areas.
  • Adhere to departmental safe food handling procedures at all times.

 

Qualifications

Work permit required if under 18 years old.
