Description

Purpose:
Write automated routines to query databases for physicians' in-patient/outpatient contacts (utilizing a wide variety of organizational databases, e.g. EPIC, patient billing services, Medipac and Atlas. Establish aggregate and relational databases to meet peer review and regulatory standards for monitoring quality patient care. Train staff in the use of programs, and maintain the accuracy of all databases e.g. Medipac, Morrissey's MSO credentialing software, Physician-Patient Contact, and departmental report systems. Develop programs that assist the department in meeting the increasing requirements for all-regulatory agencies and medical staff bylaws including the criteria-based privileges now required by the JCAHO and Office for Protection from Research Risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Refine and adapt existing software programs, as necessary.
  • Advise program director and other-regarding any problems.
  • Commitment to place quality of service a high priority in daily activities.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the system support and repair staff of our hardware and software program to assure quick diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  • Given work specifications, to design, write, document, and test computer programs.
  • Trouble-shoot hardware and software programs, as necessary.
  • Incorporate the principles of service excellence daily.
  • Provide education and informational support to the members of the medical management division regarding hardware/software, and communications links.
  • Determine when equipment needs to be repaired or programs need adaptation.
  • Install new equipment and software as needed.
  • Evaluation and recommendation for the purchase of additional equipment and software as needed.

Qualifications

  • B.A. degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field.
  • 2 years of programming experience.
  • 1 year of experience in shell programming and unix.
  • Experience with Windows software and either Novell networks or Windows/NT.
  • Previous experience with networking hardware, and a demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Database entry and maintenance experience preferred.
