UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Description

Purpose:
The Director, Women's Health Service Line has the responsibility and accountability for delivery of care through the use of interdisciplinary, collaborative, and standardization of system best practices. In collaboration with the health care team applying expert clinical knowledge and skills to achieve quality patient outcomes; integrating operations and lines of business among the separate entities with leadership in women's health service line.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develops relationships with service/specialty physicians and other disciplines to promote and proactively educate nursing personnel on new therapies and procedures to enhance nursing care deliveryDemonstrates awareness of the impact of behavior on the efficient functioning of the department and organization and implements strategies to achieve and sustain.Responsible for guiding staff nurses to understand how to develop a plan of care that includes mutual and established goals with patient/family Assesses the need for and implements system or process improvements Acts as a change agent to design, facilitate, monitor, evaluate and sustain program improvement initiatives As the expert clinician, is accountable and responsible for sharing that expertise throughout service line Suggests and leads changes across the organization Actively participates in professional organizations Assumes a lead role in system-wide projects for the service lineAssumes responsibility for complex assignments and view problems as challenges
  • Collaborates with medical staff to improve and monitor patient outcomes; sets clinical quality priorities, recommends and implements professional improvements and initiatives. Implements business unit based patient safety initiatives. Monitors dashboard indicators and quality in service line to meet organizational benchmark goals; develops action plans to address specific concerns and improve quality. Utilizes research and evidence-based practice to support improvement in clinical care. Shares learning from improvements with other business unit and/or spreads across the system. Analyzes nurse and patient satisfaction outcome data and develops strategies to improve the patient experience and patient engagement as needed. Supports and encourages involvement of multidisciplinary teams in the development and implementation of evidence based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promotes interdisciplinary partnership and consultation of hospital staff and health care team through participation in committees and related activities to ensure appropriate care and services for patients and families. Sets clinical, quality, financial, and human resources priorities for improvement that align with organizational goals. Demonstrates sound fiscal responsibility in the development of work with entities and service line to achieve efficient use of resources including but not limited to managing flexible staffing patterns to meet patient care needs.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • MSN or Master's in related field required,
  • BSN required
  • Doctorate preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical specialty experience
  • Leadership and project management experience preferred


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Clearances must be dated within 90 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
