Description

UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated is hiring a limited casual Lead Dietitian to join their team! In this position, you will work about 4-8 varying hours every 2 weeks to support clients. 

This position would be a great for anyone who is looking to have some extra income and provides flexibility in work hours and an ability to work nights and weekends. While this position does provide an opportunity to work remotely, the ideal candidate will be located in Pennsylvania as PA licensure is required to be considered.  

Responsibilities:

 

  • As required, knowledgeable about outpatient billing guidelines and performs necessary documentation to ensure compliance of client charges with regulatory requirements.
  • Appropriate execution of order writing as governed by the Dietitian Delegation Order system protocol.
  • Formulate a Nutrition Diagnosis and identify Malnutrition through application of Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment and the nationally established criteria for identification of malnutrition.
  • Mentor and train dietetic students, interns and support personnel and provide feedback for student and program improvement.
  • Provide appropriate nutritional education and counseling based upon patient/family learning needs and abilities.
  • Demonstrate effective communication methods as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Lead or participate in department based Quality Process Improvement activities with the ability to actively endorse evidence based practice.
  • Manages department programs/projects. Projects may include but are not limited to QI, Competency program, Department Software management, writing schedules and coordinating orientation of new associates.
  • Leadership role in facilitating changes within the department and coordinating daily work flow as needed, forwarding issues appropriately to Coordinator and Manager
  • Provides feedback/peer review as appropriate for associates in Performance Review process including relevant supporting documents.
  • As required, demonstrate professional writing skills adaptable to all health literacy levels in preparing materials, presentations and other communications.
  • Accountable as nutrition liaison/expert to assigned units & participate as a member of interdisciplinary committees, responding to needs and initiatives for nutrition care process improvement.
  • Assumes duties of Dietitian Coordinator or Manager in their absence
  • Provide quality patient care to diverse patient populations using Medical Nutrition Therapy to include assessment, goals and plan of care and provide timely interventions as determined by Nutrition Risk level and the Plan of Care.
  • Attend at least one skill building education session on project development and/or administration annually.
  • Responsible for scheduling and coordinating nutritional consultations that best meet our Executive Health Program client’s schedule via zoom or team calls.
  • Dietician goal is to provide a high level of nutrition-related expertise to our UPMC Executive Health clients.
  • Dietician will be provided with the client’s nutritional habits and history prior to the appointment.
  • Demonstrate effective communication methods as a collaborative member of the UPMC Executive Health Program interdisciplinary care team.
  • Evaluate client’s current diet and make recommendations for lifestyle changes to improve overall nutrition.
  • Provide quality appropriate nutrition education and counseling based on patient/family learning needs and abilities.
  • Nutritional Focused Physical Assessment and national established criteria for identification of malnutrition.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition programs, including preparing materials, presentations, and other communications, and contribute to relevant department, hospital or system-wide policies.

 

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics degree and 4 years clinical Nutrition experience as a registered dietitian required. OR Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics and 2 years clinical nutrition experience as a registered dietitian required.
  • 1 year supervisory/program management experience preferred.
  • Skills: Analytical skills to accurately assess, plan, and evaluate outcomes. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and collaborate in a team environment. Strong nutrition education/counseling and mentoring skills. Critical thinking skills for sound decision making. Leadership skills for program/staff development.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Registered Dietitian with Commission on Dietetic Registration. Maintenance of registration as demonstrated by 75 CEU credits every 5 years. Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and maintenance of PA-LDN as demonstrated by 30 CEU credits every 2 years.
