PT Concussion Coordinator, Full Time (Rooney Sports Complex)

Description

UPMC Centers for Rehab Services is currently hiring a full-time Physical Therapist to support the Rooney Sports clinic located in Pittsburgh, PA. The candidate will work variable hours between 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. If this sounds like a good fit for you, we invite you to apply!


The incumbent shall assist the Facility Director in maintaining responsibility for the day to day organization and administration of a patient care center, contractual service, or management services as may be developed by the corporation and shall be responsible to the Facility Director and/or POD Director. Additionally the incumbent provides Physical Therapy evaluation and treatment utilizing advanced clinical skills as dictated by the needs of the facility.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintains written documentation for all physical therapy services rendered including documentation of initial assessment, follow-up visits, and discharge summary consistent with department standards. Co-signs physical therapist assistant documentation biweekly.
  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and in-service education programs.
  • Performs physical therapy assessment, reassessment and treatment and supervises physical therapist assistants in the treatment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients referred by a physician to the clinic. Develops plan of care including goals and treatment plan in accordance with physician referral, nature of injury/illness and results of physical therapy assessment. Modifies or adjusts plan of care based on patient's response to treatment and/or changes in patient's status. Works PTAs to adjust patient programs as patient status changes.
  • Serves as Facility Director or program coordinator in the absence of the incumbent.
  • Actively participates in the design and implementation of orientation/mentorship and staff development of new and future staff members within their respective area of responsibility. Participates in the organization's clinical education program by providing clinical supervision of students completing internships from various universities as requested.
  • Communicates patient's status to the referring physician and other health care team members.
  • Maintains professional license/registration through steady pursuit and participation in appropriate continuing education and professional development opportunities to satisfy requirements for licensure/registration renewal.
  • Completes necessary charge and statistical information to accurately reflect the service rendered to the patient.
  • Serves as an educational resource for management of patients with a variety of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular complaints for junior physical therapy staff members. Promotes ongoing staff development through in-services and/or individualized instruction and support.
  • Oversee Vestibular Concussion Program development. This may include development and implementation of evidence based Vestibular Concussion criteria and staff orientation and reference manuals. ObjectivelyIdentifies and analyzes the source of problems, develops innovative approaches to problem solving and implements appropriate change within the Vestibular Concussion program.
  • May serves as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students as well as residents and fellows in a specialty area of physical therapy.
  • Provides verbal and/or written home instructions to patient and/or family members when applicable.
  • Participates in program development. Serves on organizational committees as an active and contributing member as requested.
  • Participates in the development of marketing and business plan for the vestibular concussion program.This is done in conjunction with the Concussion Program Director, the Director of Marketing and Business Development and Corporate Management Team. This marketing may include but is not limited to participation in community relations activities.
  • Rotates through selected treatment areas when necessary to facilitate organizational needs.
  • Act as liaison between Centers for Rehab Services, UPMC Sports Concussion Program Team and Dr Furman.
  • Reports To Director of Neuro/Vestibular Program.
  • Schedules patients to achieve and maintain a level of productivity which meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization while ensuring delivery of quality patient care.
  • Objectively identifies and analyzes the source of problems, develops innovative approaches to problem solving and implements appropriate change within the Exertion Concussion program.

  • Communicates patient's status to the referring physician and other health care team members.
  • Conducts research efforts in conjunction with UPMC Concussion Clinic for Team TBI, DOD grant, Rest vs activity following concussion effects and Exertion for concussion clinical profiles.
  • Serves as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students as well as residents and fellows in a specialty area of physical therapy.
  • Maintains a list of all Exertion trained PT?s throughout CRS.

  • Acts as liaison between Centers for Rehab Services and the UPMC Sports Concussion Program Team.
  • Oversee Exertion Concussion Program development. Serves as primary provider of Exertion Rehabilitation at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. This may include development and implementation of evidence based Exertion Concussion criteria and staff orientation and
  • Reports to the Director of Neuro/Vestibular Program.
  • Performs public speaking/education at UPMC Concussion Conferences, National and international conferences, local conferences and University of Pittsburgh, Slippery Rock.
  • Performs physical therapy assessment, reassessment and treatment and supervises physical therapist assistants in the treatment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients referred by a physician to the clinic. Develops plan of care including

  • Provides observation experiences as requested by UPMC and/or Concussion Clinic.
  • Participates in program development. Establishes Exertion Program clinical practice guidelines and standards. Serves on organizational committees as an active and contributing member as requested.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience preferred
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in a specialty area preferred
  • Previous clinical teaching experience preferred
  • Marketing experience and ability preferred
  • Six months experience with Centers for Rehab Services preferred
  • Two or more years supervisory/management experience in a health care setting preferred


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Direct Access Physical Therapist (DAPT) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, preferred in outpatient settings Act 33, 34 and 73 clearances required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
