Data Coordinator & Analyst | Dr. Tharick Pascoal's Lab

Description

The research laboratory of Dr. Tharick Pascoal in the Department of Psychiatry/Western Psychiatric Hospital, located in Oakland, Pittsburgh, PA is currently hiring a full-time Data Coordinator & Analyst to support ongoing and imminent research studies focused on monitoring the progression of Alzheimer’s disease pathophysiology, using techniques such as positron emission tomography (PET) imaging and fluid biomarkers. Current studies are longitudinal, observational, multi-site studies and are funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging.

The purpose of the Data Coordinator & Analyst would be to monitor data collected locally and at external performance sites, which are uploaded to a central database. Monitoring would involve checking for completeness and quality of the data from standards set by the Principal Investigator. The Data Analyst would also be involved in statistical analysis of various types of data (fluid biomarker data, neuroimaging data, cognitive data), with training provided and guided by the Principal Investigator. Finally, the Data Analyst would also be involved in the dissemination of results through the preparation of figures or presentations, as well as assisting with the preparation of scientific articles for publication with authorship. The ideal candidate would have prior academic research experience (undergraduate or graduate level) in a science or science-related field. They would also have prior experience with statistical analysis, preparing manuscripts, and be familiar with publication in scientific journals. 

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify data from a variety of sources for input into the database.
  • Enter, update, and retrieve information stored in files and databases; customize special reports.
  • Run weekly and/or monthly Quality Control (QC) reports to check data accuracy in study databases.
  • Set up and/or maintain various laboratory computerized filing systems, particularly confidential files, in accordance with department procedures or record keeping requirements.
  • Provide support for special research projects and assignments. Research, analyze, and summarize information and source materials for reports. Prepare data on projects and studies, such as conducting statistical analyses and presenting results.
  • Protect the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through quality control processes, as well as physical and electronic measures. Assure quality of information through business case and application-level testing; validates test results to initial business needs.
  • Attend and participate in various in-service training, external training workshops, conferences and other relevant programs for professional growth and development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Health related field, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience. Computer knowledge required.
  • Experience with Linux systems, bash scripting, and statistical software (R, MATLAB, GraphPad Prism) is highly preferred.
  • Experience with dissemination of results (presentations, figures) and assisting with the preparation of scientific articles is highly preferred.
  • Experience with fluid biomarkers and neuroimaging is an asset, but not required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34 with renewal
