Description

UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Program Director to support the Quality Improvement Department for its downtown Pittsburgh location at the US Steel Tower. This role will work in a hybrid structure. 

The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the coordination and administration of all aspects of assigned functional area and programs including but not limited to; planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling program activities driving initiatives and processes optimizing member experience  Under limited supervision, develops, manages and oversees policies, procedures and operations of the assigned functional areas, ensures compliance with all internal and external regulations and deadlines. The Program Director supports the Director of Operational Excellence and Member Experience and may manage relevant support staff. 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions enhancing organizational effectiveness.
  • Develop new and unique methods to improve operations of the organization and to create new opportunities
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Work in tandem with other members of the health plan in order to advance mission of the health plan and the UPMC at large (medical management, quality, network, health promotion, pharmacy, etc.)
  • Responsible for hiring, orientation and ongoing management of all assigned staff. Including but not limited to; conducting regular performance appraisals, providing constructive feedback, direction to improvement, provide positive leadership to all staff, encouraging a team approach, professional attitude modeling best practices.
  • Read reports prepared by staff to determine progress and issues while keeping senior leadership informed with detailed and accurate reports or presentations.
  • Apply change, risk and resource management principles when needed.
  • Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
  • Enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and people.
  • Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements.
  • Initiate and set goals and new initiatives according to the strategic objectives of the organization and department ensuring all deadlines and milestones are met.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree required. Concentration in clinical field preferred.
  • Masters Degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience required with at least 3 in a managed care environment preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with data analysis
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management
  • Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Ability to evaluate data and develop and implement interventions based upon data
  • Ability to use current technology.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Clinical licensure preferred
