Description

UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a full-time Pharmacist, Info Tech - Expert to support our Pharmacy department! This role will work Monday - Friday during daylight hours! We are seeking a candidate with 2 years of hospital Pharmacist experience, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This role will only cover Western Maryland in the IT and Clinical pharmaceutical area!

Purpose:

  • Under the general direction of the management team this lead position requires a high degree of technical and problem-solving capacity to guide and develop IT solutions that serve medication and pharmacy processes across the enterprise.
  • This position requires the provision of training and support for team members and designing and supporting processes involved in delivering IT and Informatics services for pharmacy in a leadership role.


Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with management, creates project plans and helps identify barriers to reaching milestones on complex projects within budgeted and targeted delivery dates
  • Holds patient safety, system integrity and confidentiality of information to the highest regard and is focused on customer service and delivery of solutions of the highest quality.
  • Support fellow team members growth of knowledge and assist in troubleshooting issues in application or process design
  • Manage the design and documentation of system functional requirements
  • Provide input in team member evaluations and helps management identify opportunities for staff development
  • Provides leadership in situations that involve issues and design decisions of the highest complexity
  • Support UPMC Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) decisions in a leadership capacity, working closely with the leadership of the P&T committee to ensure that decisions can be implemented optimally
  • Highly motivated to instill and reinforce continuous process improvement on all projects
  • Serves as an expert resource for all IT and Informatics groups across the organization for pharmacy informatics
  • Work collaboratively with ISD and Operational partners to help find new opportunities for improvement of clinical and financial outcomes
  • Manage documenting Pharmacy and UPMC needs, including current state process and propose solutions that enhance current processes- Work collaborative across multiple IT and Informatics groups to create solutions for UPMC patients, providers, and caregivers across multiple venues

 

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) required.
  • 5 Years of Hospital pharmacy experience preferred
  • Previous experience with pharmacy informatics and pharmacy information systems is required
  • Experience managing or participating in a supervisory role for multifaceted projects involving the interface between operational change and pharmacy applications or information systems - Intuitive, holistic understanding of highly complex system designs and high performance
  • Works well even in unstable/ dynamic or crisis situations based on broad and deep applied professional experience.
  • Demonstrates prevention techniques to avoid repeat issues and crisis situations.
  • Has a proven track record of designing high-reliability processes and works with operations and the customer to further refine as needed.
  • Establishes defined criteria set to objectively evaluate complex decisions. Intervenes flexibly/creatively to improve system design and/or performance.
  • Skilled in conflict management and effectively managing the most challenging relationships with and among business partners, vendors, professional peers, and other team members.
  • Mentors peers to acquire fine points of professional practice.
