UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Assist the Family Medicine Residency Program Director in providing care to Residency Center patients, teaching and evaluating residents, and managing the Family Medicine Residency Program. Coordinate, teach, and evaluate resident physicians and medical students regarding behavioral and community medicine principles and practices that are appropriate to the curriculum of a family medicine residency program. Coordinate residents' wellness and required instruction in impairment and fatigue. Manage the faculty's input and policymaking regarding recruiting medical students to apply to this institution for their post-graduate training in Family Medicine.

•    Incorporate leading/evidence-based practice in quality/safety into everyday work.
•    Develop and deliver, or organize the delivery of didactics on well-being, professionalism, and appropriate communication between staff, peers, and patients.
•    Develop curriculum and evaluation methods including their implementation and monitoring for quality control.
•    Commit to high-quality, safe work; encourage others to have similar standards.
•    Assume responsibility for personal development and education.
•    Sit on Wellness Committee and is responsible for developing and delivering or organizing the delivery of didactic and other programming around physician wellbeing, suicide prevention, and burnout to all faculty and residents. Administers a semi-annual survey on wellness and burnout. Sits on system committees and represents the residency for this area.
•    Serve as a core member of the Core Competency Committee, whose purpose is to develop all evaluation materials for the program. Develop the evaluation process for the Interpersonal Communication and Professionalism core competencies. Provides extensive reviews of each resident’s performance with other members of the Core Competency Committee.
•    Practice behaviors associated with UPMC Susquehanna Service Excellence expectations.
•    Know and follow all organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
•    Speak up with other service partners to ensure high quality and safety. Report serious events/incidents per policy.
•    Identify processes/systems that could lead to inefficient practices, unsafe conditions, errors, or adverse events.
•    Avoid shortcuts to ensure quality and safety measures are not circumvented.
•    Encourage patient and family involvement in processes involving patient safety.
•    Develop the schedule and perform videotaping residents in the outpatient setting. Review candid videotaping with residents and their faculty advisor. Document on evaluation forms and submit to Core Competency Committee.



A Master's degree in a Mental Health related field from an accredited college or university is required. Two years of experience in psychotherapy required. Two years of post-graduate work experience and work with a family medicine residency program preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
A Licensed Mental Health professional in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required.
•    Clinical Social Worker (CSW) OR Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
•    Act 33 with renewal
•    Act 34 with renewal
•    Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
