UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

UPMC Innovative Homecare Solutions is hiring a full-time EMT role for the Pittsburgh area. We offer eight (8), 12, or 16-hour shifts.  The team is currently operating from 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. seven (7) days per week.   Scheduling is flexible but some weekends (and eventual overnights) will be scheduled.  It is expected to become 24/7 in future due to the high demand. You begin and end your day at our Northside location.

The Sr. EMT will support In Home suite of services for UPMC Innovative Homecare Solutions. This suite of services includes urgent care inside a patient’s home in an effort to reduce ED utilization and inpatient admissions. In Home Short Term Acute Care will provide follow up hospital care to patients in their home under the supervision of a physician-led practice. This is a new and innovative service in its first year.  Our field staff have an enormous role in shaping the development of the program and we actively solicit and act on feedback and suggestions.  There are opportunities for individual staff members to take ownership of projects and initiatives that match their interests. This is a great opportunity for an EMT-B looking to expand their skillset with opportunities for advancement including Advanced EMT and Paramedic roles.

Under limited supervision, the Sr. Professional EMT II ensures safe and healthy environment for patients and employees by providing competent health and medical services in a prehospital setting. 


  • Serves as a role model for professional EMS practice.
  • Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to care for ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and orders, engaging online medical command or other resources when appropriate. 
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and ensures a safe environment for patients and other healthcare workers.
    Responds promptly and efficiently to all requests for service.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish a rapport with customers; including the ability to create and sustain a positive relationship; regardless of circumstances, environment, or patient presentation.
  • Demonstrates a passion for developing others.
  • Identifies opportunities for clinical quality as well as workplace improvement.



  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Three (3) years EMT experience; previous ambulance and/or hospital experience preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: AEMT or EMT-P certification and 1 professional contribution selected from department, hospital, or system goals, and approved by your Manager OR 2 professional contributions

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Driver's License
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
