Operating Room Assistant
Flex Full-time, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., rotation to weekends and other daylight shifts

This position has a minimum start rate of $13.68.
Purpose:
Performing necessary duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Performs all assigned housekeeping duties to insure a clean, neat, and sanitary work area within the Surgery Center.
- Runs errands as required. Carries out other related activities as requested.
- Employee complies with established occupation exposure policies.
- Completes ongoing age-specific competency validation via defined mechanisms
- Runs, maintains, and tests autoclaves appropriately. Performs all duties relative to decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and dispatch acceptably and satisfactorily according to established departmental policies and procedures.
- Assists in the transfer of patients onto beds or litter and transports patients as necessary.
- Processes and cares for instruments and other equipment and prepares them for sterilization or storage appropriately.
- Supports Surgery Center-based quality assessment activities by actively participating in the continuous performance improvement process.
- Prepares and assembles special items or packs to meet the needs of the OR.
- Assists with the needs of the Anesthesia department.
- Checks for outdated supplies reorders, and stocks areas as necessary.
- Demonstrates flexibility in response to unexpected changes in the workload and/or emergencies.
- Maintains proper traffic control in the OR suite.
- Assists with orientation of new employees as needed.
- Maintains working knowledge of instruments and equipment and their appropriate locations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Satisfactory completion of an approved training program for nursing assistants
- Must maintain CPR certification
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
