COVID-19 Vaccination Information

Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

If you are not yet vaccinated, we urge you to get a vaccine now. You can schedule your COVID-19 vaccination through UPMC or visit a non-UPMC provider or UPMC Urgent Care location.

Proof of vaccination is not required upon hire; however, employees will be responsible for ensuring post-hire compliance by getting vaccinated or requesting a medical or religious exemption.

About the Program

UPMC’s Student Nurse Internship (SNI) Program is a full-time 10-week paid summer internship.  An internship in nursing at UPMC will give you experience engaging with some of the most important pieces of our business… our patients!  SNIs have an opportunity to:

  • Build your confidence as a future nurse
  • Work at one hospital on an assigned unit (assignment shared at time of offer)
  • Shadow! We know this experience is all about learning, and we want to help you find your sweet spot to start your nursing career at UPMC. As part of the SNI Program, you'll have the opportunity to shadow at least one additional area of nursing (you may just be surprised at what you enjoy the most!).
  • Work up to 40 hours/week (Note: SNIs follow their preceptor's schedule.)
  • Explore/apply to system-wide GN opportunities before you even leave the program!

It doesn’t end there!  During your internship program, you will have the opportunity to network with UPMC Nursing Leadership, give back to the community, receive mentorship, and most importantly, make an impact on patient care and Life Changing MedicineAnd, of course, have a little bit of fun too!
