UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is currently hiring a Regular Full-Time cGMP Facilities & Supply Management Assistant. This will be a Monday through Friday daylight position located in Oakland/Pittsburgh, PA with some travel to the IMPCL lab at the Hillman Cancer Center in Shadyside/Pittsburgh, PA. 

Under the direction of the Project Analyst/cGMP Facilities and Supply Chain Management, the Facilities & Supply Management Assistant will perform work that includes the procurement of materials and supplies, assisting with maintaining the safe and efficient operating of all equipment utilized for all laboratory activities, as well as the day-to-day operation of the facility from an equipment/space perspective.


  • Create and submit purchase orders for materials and goods according to departmental procedures
  • Receive materials and goods and enter relevant information/data into inventory control database per departmental procedures
  • Prepare and deliver raw materials to production areas ensuring proper procedures are followed
  • Contact vendors for required quality documents i.e., Certificate of Analysis (COA) etc.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment preventative maintenance schedule and ensure that schedule is followed.
  • Perform IQ/OQ/PQ of new and update/modified equipment, including plans and reports.
  • Maintain annual preventative maintenance records
  • Maintain inventory of all materials and supplies per departmental procedures
  • Assist with investigation and process related occurrences/deviations
  • Assist with creation and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relevant to materials and equipment as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Facilities and Materials Manager cGMP Lab



  • High school diploma and some vocational or college training in materials management and cGMP are preferred.
  • Proficient in computer skills including the Internet, Microsoft Word, and Excel and ability to use an inventory software system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organized and detail-oriented.
  • Preferred experience includes working in a cGMP manufacturing facility, working in a research setting, and biologics experience.
  • Experience with ordering and receiving consumables. Inventory experience. Facility management experience.
