Description

UPMC Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal Centers are hiring a full-time Collection Specialist to join their team in McCandless, PA! In this position, you will work Monday - Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm, communicating with insurance carriers to ensure accurate billing processes. 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Update system notes with account activity, status and expected reimbursement. Utilize the correct reprint/bill codes, denial codes, barrier codes, status codes, etc.
  • Understand Third Party billing and collections regulations.
  • Meet quality assurance, benchmark standards and maintain productivity levels as defined by management.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of billings, collections, contractual postings, payments, and adjustments of accounts based upon their functional area standards.
  • Escalate problem accounts as applicable.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the current functionality of the patient accounting systems.
  • Indentify issues and sumbit corrective billing actions. 
  • Communicating with insurance carriers 

 

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • 4 years of experience in a business office setting required.
  • Must be multi-disciplined in billing, collections, denials, credit balances and/or the various payors.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and effective problem solving skills required.
  • Must be able to communicate with patients, payors, outside agencies, and general public through telephone, electronic and written correspondence.
  • Prior experience on personal computers, calculators and various office equipment is needed.
  • Prior collections or medical billing experience with basic understanding of coding and medical terminology preferred.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
