UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

UPMC Mercy is hiring a part-time Gift Shop Clerk to support our facility! Our gift shop specializes in supporting local Pittsburgh vendors to develop a greater community connection. This is an evening position with a shift time of 2:30 pm or 3 pm until 7:15 pm. This position will work occasional evening shifts during the week and rotating weekends. Weekend shifts are from 10:45 am-5:15 pm. For those applicants in school, working during school breaks, holidays and summers will be required. If you're someone who loves interacting with customers we'd love you to join our team! 

Provides prompt, courteous service to the customers of the gift shop.


  • Maintain quality control of outgoing merchandise.
  • Assist customers with gift/flower suggestions and refers any customer complaints to the Manager of Clerk II.
  • Work weekends, evenings, or holidays as needed.
  • Stock candy, magazines, and merchandise daily as necessary.
  • Operate cash register and Lottery machine, open and close Shop.
  • Inform Manager or Clerk II when stock items or supplies are low in need of re-ordering.
  • Maintain shop (i.e. dusting, cleaning, rubbish removal) to ensure a safe and aesthetic environment.
  • Conform to The Basics of Service Excellence as described in the hospital's orientation program.
  • Answer any incoming phone calls and direct calls appropriately.
  • Receive incoming merchandise, check invoices, unpack and assist with pricing as directed by Manager or Clerk II.
  • Count change bank, and Lottery bank and reconcile Lottery receipts at end of the day when closing.


  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1 year of experience in retail sales (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings or holidays.
