Description

Purpose:

Responsible for working with the UPMC Community LifeTeam EMS Billing Department Manager and staff to ensure a smooth flow of daily billing office activities. Assist customers on the phone, providing information, and communicating with various staff members.


Responsibilities:

  • Under direct supervision, provides general administrative support to the Community LifeTeam Billing Office.
  • Order office supplies and maintain office equipment.
  • Relay necessary messages to staff and providers.
  • Sort, distribute, prioritize, and compose routine correspondence following established procedures.
  • Perform routine clerical functions, such as copying, sorting, filing, and typing.
  • Maintain clean, orderly work areas and desk area.
  • Set up and maintain varied office files, logs and records office activities.
  • Answer telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information.
  • Complete necessary paperwork such as encounter forms and referrals.
  • Use computer system to generate information necessary for billing.
  • Working with operations to assure all standby events are documented and invoiced.
  • Working knowledge of work processing, electronic mail/calendar, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to use basic reasoning skills.
  • Complies with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Utilize appropriate modules of the automated financial management system for scheduling, information verification, entering charges, co-payment collection/ reconciliation and other tasks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 1 year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Word processing and computer experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days

  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
