UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Business Analyst- Health Plan Clinical Operations

Description

UPMC Health Plan is seeking a Business Analyst to support its UM Clinical Operations Department. This role will work with users and developers to identify problems and propose solutions. They will maintain project planning documents, prepare materials, write and distribute workflow, and maintain UPMC systems portfolio (checklist). This role will work Monday through Friday, during standard daylight hours. The team is currently working remotely, however, this is subject to change. 


Responsibilities:

 

  • Effectively prioritize and complete all assigned tasks.
  • Work with users and developers to identify problems and propose solutions.
  • Maintain project planning, model business requirements for new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem resolution, verbal and written communication skills. High regard for protecting confidentiality of corporate information.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to interpret complex medical, contractual or legal material, identify important issues, assess completeness or adequacy of information, make independent decisions under a framework of general policy and develop effective recommendations
  • Develop administration policies and procedures or business recommendations to ensure uniform, cost-effective practices that comply with the law, regulatory requirements, plan documents and other company policies.
  • Ability to assimilate and apply complex and diverse state/federal regulations
  • Conduct periodic assessment of department operations to ensure that all regulatory guidelines are being followed and the department is in compliance for each line of business
  • Participate in training programs as available/requested.
  • Openly participate in team meetings, provide ideas and suggestions to ensure client satisfaction, and promote teamwork.
  • Assist other departments during periods of backlogs.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of general business experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in business/industry specialty required.
  • Strong Excel skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare products preferred.
  • Competent in MS Office and PC skills preferred.Working knowledge of COB (Coordination of Benefits) preferred.
  • Organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
