UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Description

Purpose:
Participates in recruiting, interviewing, training and overseeing the work of the Communication Facilitators. Tracks information for quality improvement focused on enhancing communication for individuals participating in a range of inter-professional health care settings at UPMC. Has administrative responsibilities for the Audiology group, including insurance verification for individuals seeking audiological care.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Train and oversee the activities of Communication Facilitators in a variety of locations.
  • Completes a variety of administrative responsibilities that support the activities of the department.
  • Performs work in a professional and respectful manner with facility staff, residents, and their families.
  • Interact with facility staff including the administrator, activities staff, and the audiologists. Works closely with a geriatric population and their family members.
  • Provides direct resident care with regard to communication such as the daily management and maintenance of hearings aids and personal listening devices.
  • Suggest, design and implement facility wide solutions for better communication among residents and staff, in consultation with an Audiologist.
  • Log and document time and activities completed at work and as directed for quality improvement projects.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor degree required. 3 years of experience supporting communication in a variety of settings working directly with an Audiologist.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
