Purpose:
The CEAT Program Manager is responsible for the administrative and program leadership and direction of the dynamic and talented Creative & Expressive Arts Therapy (CEAT) and pastoral care departments. This includes the philosophy, structure and organization, and utilization of the departments. Responsible for overseeing the overall direction of the programs under the direction of the Senior Director of Clinical Services.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Senior Director of Clinical Services in implementing changes and/or new processes.
- Collaborate with the CEAT Program Coordinator for the coordinator to assist the CEAT Program Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations and services of the CEAT department.
- Disseminate and communicate important information to the department staff.
- Evaluate progress toward CEAT goals from previous year and identify accomplishments and growth areas to inform goal planning for the next fiscal year.
- Develop and oversee quality improvement in regard to the services provided by CEAT. This includes utilizing quality measures to demonstrate effectiveness of the CEAT services.
- Demonstrate compliance with policies and procedures for both clinical and administrative matters. Also responsible for the development of new policies for programs that are added.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain the functions of the department within the proposed budget as well as complete department supply ordering.
- Define annual CEAT goals, which coincide with the mission of the department and the UPMC facility
- Liaise with the CEAT departments from other UPMC sites to build continuity and standardization among all CEAT services across the system.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Director, Clinical Services to develop and expand the program to contribute to the overall vision of UPMC and the UPMC facility.
- Responsible for facilitating human resources (HR) related matters such as staff promotions, disciplinary action, etc. in regard to department staff along with the Senior Director, Clinical Services.
- Assist hospital administration/foundation staff in fundraising and philanthropic efforts where appropriate and applicable
- Conduct individual evaluations of staff performance.
- Facilitate and oversee recruitment for positions within the department. This includes working with supervisor to screen and interview candidates for positions within the program.
- Conduct CEAT department meetings on a monthly basis.
- Participate in hospital-wide meetings and/or committees as requested by supervisor
- Manage and oversee documentation requirements related to service delivery.
- Provide direct-care CEAT services (e.g., groups/individual sessions).
- Monitor program productivity on a regular basis with the assistance of the coordinator.
- Problem-solve programmatic and scheduling issues with the assistance of the coordinator.
- Provide training and supervision for CEAT externs/students and/or their CEAT supervisors.
- Manage and delegate the training and orientation process for new staff and ongoing training for current employees.
- Provide clinical/administrative supervision to departmental direct reports and CEAT staff.
- Oversee, direct, and coordinate all day-to-day functions of the department. Manage clinical and administrative issues related to service delivery by department staff.
- Apprise and consult supervisor regarding all salient matters.
- Coordinates CEAT schedules/programming for patient therapy groups and individual sessions with unit leadership and consults with service lines on expanding CEAT services to ambulatory care and other populations.
- Supervise CEAT staff for state licensure eligibility as well as continued professional growth opportunity.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a creative and expressive arts therapy specialty or related area required.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in behavioral health.
- At least 4 years professional (i.e., of employed workforce) supervisory experience in a specific CEAT discipline (preferred) or closely related discipline.
- Clinical experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of assessment, treatment planning, and therapy (e.g., individual and group).
- Pennsylvania License for Professional Counseling (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred.

- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
